ELEMENT 11

Competing is expensive; your fuelling doesn’t need to be.

ENDURANCE FUEL

ELEMENT 11 ENDURANCE FUEL is not a supplement; it is a technical solution to the physiological “bottleneck” of endurance performance. While most sports drinks focus on simple sugars and low-dosage electrolytes, ELEMENT 11 ENDURANCE FUEL is formulated as a high-flux energy system designed to support your metabolic demands when you are deep into the red zone—the 11th hour.

Our formulation is built on the principle of Multi-Stage Kinetic Delivery. By combining carbohydrates with different molecular weights and absorption rates, we ensure that your blood glucose levels remain elevated without the digestive “slosh” common in high-volume fuelling.

Carbohydrates and Pathways

SGLT1 Pathway: Rapid Glucose Entry with Maltodextrin

The Sodium-Glucose Linked Transporter 1 (SGLT1) is the primary “gatekeeper” for carbohydrate absorption in the small intestine. This pathway is responsible for transporting the glucose derived from Maltodextrin into the bloodstream. Critically, this is an active transport mechanism that requires Sodium to function; the transporter binds both a glucose molecule and sodium ions simultaneously to pull fuel across the intestinal wall. By including 700mg of Sodium in the formula, you are essentially supercharging this pump, ensuring that the glucose is absorbed as rapidly as possible to provide immediate fuel for high-intensity efforts.

GLUT5 Pathway: Secondary Fructose Uptake

To push past the standard absorption ceiling of 60-70g of carbs per hour, ELEMENT 11 ENDURANCE FUEL utilises the GLUT5 transporter. Unlike SGLT1, which transports only glucose, GLUT5 is a dedicated channel for Fructose. Because these two doors operate independently of one another, adding Fructose allows the body to process a higher total volume of energy simultaneously without causing a traffic jam in the gut. This dual-pathway approach is what enables athletes to reach a flux of up to 90g per hour, providing a significant performance advantage during the latter stages of a race when glycogen stores are depleted.

Sustained Flux: Palitinose (Low-GI Isomaltulose)

While the first two pathways focus on speed, the Sustained Flux component—driven by Palatinose (Isomaltulose)—focuses on endurance stability. Palatinose is a functional carbohydrate that is fully digested but at a much slower rate than Maltodextrin or Sucrose. It is broken down further along the small intestine, providing a slow, trickle-feed release of glucose and fructose. This results in a much lower glycaemic response, which prevents the sharp insulin spikes and subsequent energy crashes often associated with high-sugar sports drinks. This ensures a constant, reliable energy flux that supports fat oxidation and keeps you fuelled through the 11th hour.

Electrolytes

The electrolyte profile of ELEMENT 11 ENDURANCE FUEL is not a generic mineral add-on. It is a precision-engineered solution for the high thermal stress of South African endurance racing. When you reach the 11th hour, cellular signal degradation is often the cause of failure. Our formula provides the specific ionic concentration required to maintain muscular firing and fluid balance.

The Ionic Matrix

711mg Sodium (Na+) per serving: This is a high-performance dosage designed to replace what is lost in heavy sweat delivered through Sodium Citrate. More importantly, Sodium is the engine for the SGLT1 transporter, actively pulling glucose into the bloodstream and driving hydration.

150mg Elemental Potassium (K+): Delivered via Potassium Chloride, this essential cation maintains intracellular osmotic pressure. It works in tandem with Sodium to prevent the flat feeling often caused by electrolyte imbalance.

66.7mg Elemental Magnesium (Mg+): We utilise Magnesium Malate, a highly bioavailable form that supports over 300 biochemical reactions in the body. At 16% of your NRV, it assists in ATP production and helps mitigate the risk of mid-race cramping.

Why Citrates and Malates?

We have intentionally moved away from cheaper mineral oxides. By using Sodium Citrate and Magnesium Malate, we ensure two things:

  1. Gastric Neutrality: These forms are significantly gentler on the stomach lining during high-intensity efforts, reducing the risk of GI distress.
  2. Absorption Efficiency: These organic salts are absorbed more effectively than inorganic alternatives, ensuring the minerals actually reach your muscle fibres when they are needed most.
